In a legal challenge over the resumption of same-sex marriages in the state, the California Supreme Court issued a compressed briefing schedule Friday afternoon, giving the state just five hours to respond to the legal challenge proponents of Proposition 8 filed Friday morning asking the court to order county clerks to deny marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
