OC Lawyer Pleads Guilty to Embezzlement

Orange County lawyer Mel W. Campbell pleaded guilty Thursday to money laundering and helping embezzle $889,000 from Kia Motors America, where his wife was an accountant.

Orange County lawyer Mel W. Campbell pleaded guilty Thursday to money laundering and helping embezzle $889,000 from Kia Motors America, where his wife was an accountant. Orange County Superior Court Judge James P. Marion sentenced Campbell to four years in prison.

According to Deputy District Attorney Marc Labreche, Cecile Campbell wired money three times from Kia into a bank account with a fictitious business name....
