Retired Orange County Judge Robert A. Knox, described by colleagues as a congenial, patient arbitrator of the law who didn't brandish a judicial ego, died Tuesday. He was 88. Knox's tenure began in Orange County Municipal Court in 1976 when he was appointed by Gov. Jerry Brown. He went on to be elected as judge in Orange County Superior Court in 1982.
