Brown files emergency appeal on sentencing reform initiative

Sacramento Judge ruled Attorney General Kamala Harris abused her discretion in greenlighting amendments.

Gov. Jerry Brown filed an emergency appeal Thursday to the state Supreme Court in an effort to place his sentencing reform initiative on the November ballot. The request comes one day after a Sacramento County Superior Court judge ruled the initiative was improperly crafted.
