UC Irvine has its largest freshman class, new degree and faculty

The school announced the record enrollment Thursday while also touting the hiring of four additional full-time faculty and the unveiling of a new degree.

Applications to UC Irvine Law School increased by 31 percent this year as the school continues to enjoy growth in programs and faculty.

There are 140 first-year students for the 2016-17 academic year, which is the largest class since the school opened in 2009. Total enrollment is 358.
