Legislature Adds Heft to Laws Requiring Affordable Housing

Talbert and Jillian Blanchard - This year, the Legislature's primary focus in the land use area involved a repeated attempt to address the housing crisis in California. Continuing last year's trend, the Legislature passed measures that limit a local government's authority to deny affordable housing projects, increase burdens on local governments to meet fair-share housing needs and increase penalties for failures to meet such requirements.
