Santa Ana taps Best Best & Krieger for city attorney

Santa Ana has hired an outside attorney to oversee the city's in-house legal department in what officials are calling a novel "hybrid" arrangement expected to save the city $30,000 per year.

Santa Ana has taken its outsourcing effort to the city's legal department, hiring a private city attorney to manage in-house lawyers.


The city, which last fall was projected to begin the upcoming fiscal year with a roughly $30 million deficit, has spent much of the last year trying to cut costs by contracting with third parties.
