Bar association honors members-turned-judges
The South Asian Bar Association of Southern California held a special reception for two of its members on Dec. 6, honoring their moves to the bench. U.S. Magistrate Judge Alka Sagar, who was selected in August for her current position in the Central District, was honored along with Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Rupa S. Goswami, who was appointed in July. Both judges came from the U.S. attorney's office for the Central District. U.S. Magistrate Judge Jay C. Gandhi introduced both of the newly minted judges. SABA president Puneet V. Kakkar, an associate at Caldwell Leslie & Proctor PC, presided over the ceremony. — Henry Meier
