Likely Candidates Emerging for State PD Post

SACRAMENTO - Four or five candidates have emerged as potential successors to State Public Defender Fern M. Laethem. Lynne S. Coffin of San Francisco's Coffin & Love confirmed her candidacy to head the Office of State Public Defender. Coffin has been a defense attorney since 1978, and since 1986 she has focused almost exclusively on post-conviction work in capital cases.
