Judge Nudges KB Home Case Toward Settlement

The federal judge overseeing the stock option backdating prosecution of real estate mogul Bruce Karatz urged the two sides to broker a deal, saying he didn't "need this case in my life."

LOS ANGELES - A federal judge on Monday hinted real estate tycoon Bruce Karatz should seek to broker a resolution to the criminal charges pending against him, and scheduled his trial for November.

"I don't need this case in my life," U.S. District Judge Otis Wright II said at the outset of a status conference Monday morning.
