West L.A. taxes, fees above regional norms

The 2000 Kosmont Cost of Doing Business Survey(r) shows that rents are not the only expensive hurdle facing business in the West L.A. area. Local taxes and fees are far above the regional norms as well. Of the five communities discussed here, Culver City, Los Angeles and Santa Monica earn Kosmint's high cost $$$$ rating. Beverly Hills garners a low cost $$ rating, and only West Hollywood receives a very low cost $ rating.
