According to her testimony in Henley v. Philip Morris Inc ., 995172 (San Francisco Superior Court, Feb. 9-10, 1999), Patricia Henley smoked her first cigarette at age 15 while attending a high school dance and thinking she wanted to look cool. The year was 1962, and there were no health warnings printed on tobacco products at the time. Cigarettes were even advertised during children's cartoon shows.
