UC Hastings honors former mayor at gala
UC Hastings College of the Law bestowed honors on several alumni and current faculty Oct. 11 at the St. Regis Hotel in San Francisco during its first annual Honors Gala. Receiving recognition were Willie L. Brown Jr. as Alumnus of the Year; Simona Agnolucci as Rising Alumna of the Year; and Roger C. Park as Distinguished Faculty of the Year. "Drawing on a more than one hundred year tradition of service to our city, state and nation, these three honorees are excellent examples of the breadth and depth of the impact of UC Hastings on the broader community," UC Hastings Chancellor and Dean Frank H. Wu said in a statement. Brown, who graduated from the law school in 1958, went on to serve two terms as mayor of San Francisco and as the longest-serving speaker of the state assembly. Agnolucci has become known for handling important litigation for cutting-edge technology companies as well as an active pro bono practice representing women fleeing gender-based prosecution. Park was recognized for his international reputation as a scholar and teacher who has published eight books and a number of articles on evidence law. — Jill Patton
