Shooting of Inmate Ruled Legal

SAN FRANCISCO - A Sacramento prison guard who shot and seriously wounded an inmate to break up a prison yard fight in 1995 is immune from liability even though the inmate may have been an innocent bystander, a federal appeals court held Thursday.
