Ricochet Effect

SAN FRANCISCO - The dining hall at Pleasant Valley State Prison is a bad place for a fight. The Coalinga medium-security lockup's 4,889 inmates avoid trouble at mealtime because a shot fired by a guard can score a direct hit on an unintended target in the swarming cafeteria or do extensive ricochet damage as it pings off tables and chairs.
