Brown Rebukes Mortgage Lender

California Attorney General Jerry Brown issued an ultimatum to one of the country's largest private mortgage lenders.

State Attorney General Jerry Brown has issued an ultimatum to one of the country's largest private home mortgage lenders.

Brown's office sent a letter Friday to Ally Financial Inc.'s head of mortgage operations, Steven Abreu, demanding the company prove it has not illegally initiated foreclosures on borrowers in California.
