Prosecutor John Zajec, a skilled trial lawyer who dedicated more than three decades of service to the Los Angeles district attorney's office, died Aug. 27 from an illness related to leukemia. He was 63.
Zajec, whom friends and coworkers described as a caring man full of integrity, came to the district attorney's office with a background different than most.
