Black entertainment lawyers' event honors film academy head
More than 150 of the entertainment industry's attorneys, law students and marketing, sports and entertainment professionals attended the Black Entertainment and Sports Lawyers Association's Los Angeles Regional Event on Aug. 21. Honored at the event was Cheryl Boone Isaacs, the newly elected president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The event also featured a panel addressing issues in "The State of Black Hollywood." Moderated by UCLA professor Darnell Hunt, panelists included Nicole A. Bernard of 21st Century Fox, Jeff Clanagan of CodeBlack Entertainment, Nikkole Denson-Randolph of AMC Theaters and Robi Reed of Black Entertainment Television. The discussion was followed by a networking reception. — Ben Adlin
