Shearman & Sterling LLP represented Gaithersburg, Md.-based cloud computing technology developer GXS Group Inc. in its $1.165 billion sale to Open Text Corp., a business information management software provider headquartered in Ontario, Canada.

San Francisco and Palo Alto partner Michael J. Kennedy led the Shearman team. Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP advised Open Text in the cash and stock deal, announced Tuesday.<...
