Civil rights organization celebrates anniversary with fundraising dinner
The civil rights group Disability Rights Advocates celebrated the 20th anniversary of its founding with a gala dinner at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco on Oct. 23. Among the event's speakers were Senior U.S. District Judge Thelton E. Henderson and California Supreme Court Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye, who spoke about their personal experiences with disabled people. The dinner supported the Wolinsky Fellowship fund, which financially aids lawyers with disabilities. This year, the fund is seeking to establish a two-year fellowship to train what it hopes will be the next cohort of civil rights leaders. — Emily Green
