Tessera, Sony skirt trial by settling licensing spat

San Jose-based patent holder Tessera Technologies Inc. and consumer electronics giant Sony Corp. have settled a licensing contract dispute, narrowly avoiding a federal jury trial scheduled to begin in San Jose on Monday.
