Jurists Tap Former Public Defender To Be Commissioner in San Diego

Superior Court judges have elected a former Los Angeles County deputy public defender to be a commissioner. Pennie McLaughlin Carlos, who also worked as an assistant U.S. attorney, will oversee misdemeanor arraignments in the downtown courthouse after a rotation through other courts. Carlos began work as a commissioner Thursday.
