Google settles FTC lawsuit over virtual game purchases by children

Google Inc. reached an agreement Thursday to pay $19 million back to parents whose children sometimes bought hundreds of dollars worth of virtual items when playing online games on mobile devices.

Google Inc. reached an agreement Thursday to pay $19 million back to parents whose children sometimes bought hundreds of dollars worth of virtual items when playing online games on mobile devices.


The settlement is the second reached by the Federal Trade Commission for unauthorized in-app purchases that allegedly target children.
