Voiding of Same-Sex Marriages Isn't Final Word; Real Test Is Yet to Come

Forum Column - By Lawrence C. Levine - Thursday's state Supreme Court decision regarding San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom's authority to grant marriage licenses to same-sex couples is but a small skirmish in what will be a long battle. The court carefully avoided becoming embroiled in the controversy over the constitutionality of excluding same-sex couples from the rights and responsibilities of marriage.
