In twist, federal judge orders state court to decide immigration dispute

The Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund has persuaded a federal judge in Los Angeles to ship back to state court a case over the city of Baldwin Park's alleged violation of California's Trust Act.

Immigrant rights groups often seek protection in federal court from states with anti-immigrant statutes.


The table turned in immigrant-friendly California as the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund persuaded a federal judge in Los Angeles late Monday to ship back to state court a case over the city of Baldwin Park's alleged violation of California's Trust Act.
