City Needn't Protect Homeowner

SAN FRANCISCO - Buyer beware. That was the essential message of a California Supreme Court ruling Thursday. By a 6-1 vote, the high court said the city of Los Angeles, accused of failing to document properly evidence that city officials knew a house was in an landslide area, cannot be sued by the house's new owner for damages.
