Sheriff’s officer says 5 1/2 month gap in jail log may have been deleted

A top Orange County sheriff’s official told a judge Thursday that 5 1/2 months worth of entries may have been deleted from a records log that’s at the center of an ongoing evidence hearing in a capital case.

SANTA ANA — A top Orange County sheriff’s official told a judge Thursday 5½ months of entries may have been deleted from a jail records log at the center of an evidence hearing in a capital case.

Lt. Mike McHenry’s testimony responded to questions from Judge Thomas M. Goethals, who is trying to determine if Seal Beach mass murderer Scott Dekraai could receive a fair death penalty trial.
