Bill to eliminate immigration consultants hits roadblocks
A bill targeting fraudulent immigration consultants ran into serious opposition in the state Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday.
SACRAMENTO — A bill targeting fraudulent immigration consultants ran into serious opposition in the state Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday.
AB 638 would shut down non-attorney immigration consultants. The aim is to stop incompetent or dishonest consultants who take thousands of dollars from desperate immigrants, then deliver faulty work that makes their situations worse.
