Judges OK effort to seek extra funds

Budget change proposal will request money to cover increased benefits costs.

SAN FRANCISCO - State judicial branch leaders on Friday authorized staff to ask the Department of Finance for more funding for the coming year, including payments to cover the increased cost of court staff benefits, which up until recently the state had funded.
