Health insurer settles suit over coverage of spinal implant

Blue Cross of California has settled a class action with 1,500 people who alleged they were denied coverage of a widely used spinal implant that the insurer refused to cover.

Blue Cross of California has settled a class action with 1,500 people who alleged they were denied coverage of a widely used spinal implant that the insurer refused to cover. Along with a $4.7 million settlement, the insurer also changed a flawed policy addressed by the suit, according to plaintiff's lawyer George R. Kingsley of Encino-based Kingsley & Kingsley APC.
