San Francisco deputy city attorney nominated for federal bench

President Barack Obama nominated San Francisco Deputy City Attorney Vince G. Chhabria Thursday to a vacant seat on the Northern District of California bench.

President Barack Obama nominated San Francisco Deputy City Attorney Vince G. Chhabria Thursday to the seat on the Northern District of California bench vacated by U.S. District Judge Susan Illston, who took senior status earlier this month.

If confirmed, Chhabria would be the first South Asian Article III judge on the West Coast and the third in the country.
