Akamai buys Contendo for $268 million

Massachusetts-based Akamai Technologies Inc. agreed to buy Sunnyvale-based Contendo Inc. for $268 million in cash deal announced Thursday.

PALO ALTO - Massachusetts-based Akamai Technologies Inc. agreed to buy Sunnyvale-based Contendo Inc. for $268 million in a cash deal announced Thursday.


Akamai helps speed up content delivery on the Internet, and Contendo offers a similar service through cloud-based technology. Contendo also has a large presence in Israel, where it owns a technology center.
