Obama administration, House committee square off in gay rights case

President Barack Obama's top civil lawyer on Friday argued in favor of a 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals staff attorney seeking health insurance for her wife.

SAN FRANCISCO - President Barack Obama's top civil lawyer on Friday squared off against lawyers for an advisory committee to the U.S. House of Representatives who asked a federal judge to dismiss a lawsuit filed by a 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals staff attorney seeking health insurance for her wife.
