After seven years of litigation, Jacobs won a major victory for his client, Novell Inc., after a Utah jury ruled that the company owned the copyrights to the UNIX computer operating system. The judge finalized the order in June, although the plaintiff SCO Group Inc. has appealed to the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
