Despite early criticisms that his appointments to the state bench lacked diversity, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has appointed as many Democrats as Republicans, and lawyers with diverse careers.

Just three years ago, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger was taking so much heat for the lack of racial diversity among his judicial appointments that some state lawmakers tried to block millions in funding for new judges.
