Court Tosses Conviction in Drowning of Infant

A state appeals court Tuesday overturned a Riverside woman's second-degree murder conviction for drowning her newborn son in a toilet. The 4th District Court of Appeal ordered the trial court to hear Donna M. Knight's motion for a new trial, ruling that the foreman had committed juror misconduct by relaying the wrong instructions from the judge to the rest of the panel. People v. Knight E033827 (Cal. App. 4th Dist. May 11, 2004).
