'Mendez' Provided Preview of 'Brown'
WESTMINSTER - In 1945, a group of Orange County Latino families, led by tenant farmers Gonzalo and Felicitas Mendez, filed suit so they could send their children to nearby all-white schools in Westminster instead of the shabby, distant schools set aside for "Mexicans."
