Oil companies settle with state over alleged gas tank violations

Two oil companies will pay the state of California a combined $11.5 million to settle alleged violations of state environmental laws.

Two oil companies will pay the state of California a combined $11.5 million to settle alleged violations of state environmental laws. Attorney General Kamala D. Harris announced Wednesday that Phillips 66 and ConocoPhillips will pay the settlement figure after hundreds of underground storage tanks were found to be lacking required safety measures.
