Contra Costa district attorney resigns after indictment
Contra Costa County District Attorney Mark Peterson resigned after pleading no contest to one count of felony perjury.

Contra Costa County District Attorney Mark Peterson resigned after pleading no contest to one count of felony perjury. He will spend three years on probation and is barred from running for public office during that time.
Peterson was a prosecutor in the county for nearly 35 years and had been district attorney since 2010.
