More than 80 Howard Rice attorneys, staff and other volunteers gathered at the Youth Guidance Center on April 30 for the firm's annual Rebuilding Together San Francisco community service project. The volunteers completed tasks such as painting indoor and outdoor portions of the building, installing light fixtures, landscaping and constructing a frame and mount for a new entrance sign. "This is a Howard Rice tradition, and one that we love," said Howard Rice associate Shaudy Danaye-Elmi. "Each year come April, we meet an amazing group of new people who we might not otherwise meet, and we do our best to help them by raising money and by rolling up our sleeves to transform the space they work in, teach in, or provide community services in. We may be sore the next day, but it feels great." Liz Jackson-Simpson, executive director of the center's improvement committee, said she was thrilled with the results. Located in San Francisco, the Youth Guidance Center Improvement Committee is an organization that provides vocational and educational services to youth by counseling and mentoring participants. Howard Rice renovated the Center as part of their yearly involvement with Rebuilding Together, an organization that provides free repairs and other services to nonprofits throughout California.
