State to appeal rather than give judges back pay
The judges and justices say they are due about $40 million that was denied to them during the recession-era budget cuts.
Raoul Kennedy, of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meaher and Flom LLP and Affiliates, is representing California judges seeking back pay from the state.
The state attorney general intends to appeal an order to pay judges and justices about $40 million in wages they were denied amid recession-era budget cuts, adding a new round to an executive-judicial branch heavyweight bout that has left observers puzzled.
