Loan underwriter in Corinthian Colleges case agrees to pay $51M settlement

A Los Angeles County judge has approved a $51 million settlement negotiated by Attorney General Xavier Becerra with Aequitas Capital Management Inc., a loan underwriter implicated in the Corinthian Colleges Inc. scandal.

A Los Angeles County judge has approved a $51 million settlement negotiated by Attorney General Xavier Becerra with Aequitas Capital Management Inc., a loan underwriter implicated in the Corinthian Colleges Inc. scandal.

Judge Terry A. Green’s signature on Monday made final a tentative settlement announced Friday. The money will be used to repay up to 38,000 former students in California defrauded by Corinthian.
