Margaret Holm of Sedgwick LLP, representing the Regents of the University of California, defeated a man’s lawsuit after she showed the jury videos intended to undermine his claims.

SANTA ANA — After Aaron D. Gopen left his job as a corporate counsel and opened a practice focused on helping deaf people with legal issues, he filed his first major lawsuit on behalf of a particularly personal client: his brother Justin.

The brother had been deaf since birth and a victim, Gopen believed, of discrimination at one of the University of California’s top medical institutions.
