Senate sends State Bar overhaul bill to Gov. Brown’s desk
The funding and overhaul legislation secured unanimous approval in both chambers.

The state Legislature has done what it failed to do a year ago: approve a State Bar funding and overhaul bill for Gov. Jerry Brown to sign.
The bill the Senate unanimously passed Tuesday calls for the separation of the bar’s specialty practice groups, known as sections, into a private nonprofit.
SB 36 would also reduce the bar’s board by eliminating the six elected attorney members and give the age...
