The U.S. Senate has confirmed Los Angeles attorney Makan Delrahim to lead the U.S. Department of Justice’s antitrust division.

Delrahim’s appointment was met with guarded optimism from several antitrust attorneys Monday, who see him as a nonpartisan figure settling into a theoretically nonpartisan role.
