The agency is examining whether an outside entity should instead handle the regulatory efforts.

State Bar mulling whether to remain a law school accreditor

The State Bar is reviewing whether it should continue accrediting law schools as it has for decades or instead allow an outside entity to handle the work.

Meanwhile, deans have given a cool reception to the potential for the Committee of Bar Examiners to no longer regulate the non-American Bar Association institutions they lead. Committee members have expressed some skepticism about the possible change as well.
