LOS ANGELES — In a settlement over a lawyer tax, the city of Los Angeles will stop mandating that attorneys include reimbursed expenses in their gross receipts and will issue refunds to thousands of lawyers and their firms.
The settlement, preliminarily approved on Thursday, will reimburse about 2,000 law firms doing business in the city, bringing an estimated $9 million for class members.
