More than three dozen state justices, judges selected

SACRAMENTO — Gov. Jerry Brown named three appellate justices and 34 superior court judges on Thursday. Twenty-one of the picks are women.

The new judges include a former deputy U.S. attorney who investigated the Sony Pictures Entertainment hack, a lawyer who represented the late singer Michael Jackson, and a children’s advocate whose name had been floated by an LGBT group as a possible state Supreme Court pick.
