Irvine intellectual property litigator Robert Benson is all too familiar with the disturbing stories of abandoned and orphaned children. The Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP partner was abandoned by his birth mother on the streets of San Jose when he was 2.

"I was severely neglected," said Benson, who was too young to remember those early years but has pieced his past together with court documents.
