MARKEY

LOS ANGELES — Retired superior court judge Christian E. Markey Jr., who handled more than 4,000 Los Angeles County asbestos lawsuits in the early 1980s, has died. He was 88.

Struggling with complications following a recent bout with pneumonia, Markey died peacefully in his sleep Jan. 29, according to family members.
